Cottey basically messed up. Big time. There's this girl, Victoria, who moved into this single room in Nebraska suite during the first semester because she got kicked out of her last suite. She wasn't going to come back to Cottey after semester, and so I requested that room for when she moved out. When I got back to Cottey, I got the approval from my hall director, saying that it was now officially my room. The only problem was she just had to move her stuff out.
So, I thought it might take a day or two...I realized I was early coming back from Winter break, so I knew I'd have to wait awhile. A couple of days passed, and I hadn't heard anything about my room. I asked the hall director, Megan, about what was going on and she just said that Victoria must not have been on campus to get her stuff. So I waited another week...while this girl's stuff was just sitting in my room. At this point, my phone number had been changed, and on the school-wide roster, I was officially in Nebraska suite, but all the while I was still living in my old room in Washington suite. I never unpacked because I didn't want to unpack everything and then have to move.
Anyways, a whole week passes and at this point I just want to get out of my suite and into my new room. I was frustrated that Cottey didn't step in and just remove her stuff FOR HER. That's how she got moved into that room to begin with--she wasn't even there for the move. Dean Phillips and Helen Lodge (dean of student life and the housing coordinator) had to move her stuff FOR HER. Anyways, I'm wondering why Cottey isn't forcing her out. She wasn't any longer enrolled in the college and she had officially been considered no longer a student. So, I decided to go to Megan, again, and ask her what the deal was. She said that at this point, things were changing and they didn't know what was going on with Victoria. That made me a little mad, because it's like they SHOULD know what's going on--either she's a student here or not. And if she's not, kick her out and force her to leave. So, another week passes, and I finally find out that Victoria had appealed her academic dismissal (the whole reason why she was leaving) and was accepted back into Cottey. I found this out, but I thought that they were going to move her somewhere else, because the room in Nebraska was still technically mine.
This is what Cottey did: they basically double-booked the room. They told me I could live there, but then they told Victoria that she could live there without ever telling ME that I couldn't live there, or vice versa. Another problem is that all this time, Helen Lodge had no idea any of this was going on. She thought I had already been living in that room in Nebraska since the beginning of the semester. So, Helen told me that I had a couple of options. I could either stay in the room I'm in now or I could move to the one other single room available in Reeves Hall, which is in California-Weller suite. I really didn't want to at the time, because the room in Nebraska was mine and Cottey should not have told Victoria that she could stay in that room even after they told me it was mine. So, inititally I was going to fight it and go to Dean Phillips.
But after sleeping on it and talking it over, I decided that living in Cal-Weller wasn't as bad...it was the lesser of the two evils. I cannot and will not stay in the suite I'm in now, so moving out anywhere is good with me. So, tonight I talked to Cal-Weller and got their approval to move in and I got the paper signed by Megan. I just need Helen Lodge's signature, suite chair signatures and I can move in! Also, I benefited because apparently the single that I'm moving into is the largest on campus...and it's huge! It's just a little bit smaller than my friend's double, so it's going to be really nice to have some more space...Lord knows I need it, because I have way too much stuff.
So at this point, all is well and I'm anxious to finally move and get into a new suite. I've already packed up my clothes, I just need to get everything else together...that's definitely NOT going to be fun...but it'll be worth it!
I'll post pictures of my new room once I'm moved in. Hopefully, by the end of this weekend I'll be up there and happy!

I'm so glad that this all worked out!!! It's almost like your packing to only be gone back home soon though, huh?!? Well we miss you and can't wait to see you!!
Yeah, but at least it'll be easier because I now have less time to settle in and collect crap haha.
But I'm currently sitting in my new room! My crap is everywhere and it's a disaster, but I'm super tired and it'll still be there tomorow...
Pictures! I want pictures! I'm so glad it worked out, honey. Love you! Mom
I am excited to see pictures too! Enjoy your new room. When you are done at Cottey, what is your plan?
I'm going to transfer to ASU and move into a small apartment! I'm pretty excited to be on my own (not that I don't love you, Mom). Finish my degree, then probably move out to California...
I saw on MSN that Dakota Fanning wnats to join the cast of New Moon. I can see her as Jane. What do you think? Love you!
I'm not sure. I think physically she fits the part, but I don't know if she can carry off being evil like Jane...
I need help with British flowers that were around during the Regency time period. Any ideas? The internet isn't helping much. Love, Mom
